So this weekend was my 1 year anniversary weekend with my wife. Also, We just found out we are having a baby... (not planned! but really excited about it!).

So I know that I still qualify with a baby and my wife (only 2 dependents). However, what if for some odd reason, we have twins? (tends to run in the family, my dad was a twin).

Thanks in advance for the information!

Get into boot before the baby is born. I think it was Cassie & Marshall, they were pregnant when he went into boot. She had to provide proof it wasn't twins, if memory serves correctly.

The best ones are never planned, they just sort of happen! :) Congratulations! Another family heading into sooooo many changes all at once! It's going to be fun & exciting!

haha, I have another question? is there additional funds for more dependents? If I enlist, (which would be E-3 for me) I know I'll have the basic pay, plus housing with dependents, but will there be anything else to help with this new bundle of fun?

Yeppers. For each additional dependent comes a little more change. It isn't a lot so don't think you are going to get rich but they do up some things, I can't remember which allowances, for additional children. Not to mention actually having the baby is cheap, cheap, cheap... I think it was 25$ for Colin! Not a bad deal... I get a baby, the hospital got 25 bucks. :) I think the only thing that wasn't covered were my meals.

wow! That is pretty crazy! I have a lot of choices to make. haha, We were previously waiting to enlist until the results came out for the AUG10 class (I think the submission date is in FEB10, and the results come out in JUN10). I have a qualifying ACT score, and have not brushed up on math or language in several years. So I didn't want to chance taking the ASVAB and not doing well and hurting my application into OCS. I am half way to my max weight, and was planning on speaking to a recruiter in November (do the paperwork, MEPS, and all that fun stuff). Right now, I am kinda in a excited/shock state. So I will not be making any major decisions right now. I have to figure out if we can afford financially to enlist. Just last week, we had figured out our budget so that we could be able to go enlisted while waiting on my second application to OCS (If the first one didn't work). The only thing I'm sure of (as well as my wife) is that some how some way, we both really want me to get into the Coast Guard. The more we look into it and the more we talk to people in it, the more excited we are about it. hmmm, one more question... how do Kids feel about the life of a Coastie?

My son is a Coastie kid... and now he is a Coastie. I'm not sure I can find a stronger sentiment than that to figure out how he felt about being a military brat. :)

You know it's gonna be really painful if you have the little jelly bean! LOL Don't find out... you have a 50/50 shot at guessing right... wait and be surprised! :)

When I was pregnant I really wanted a little boy but I know how MUCH Jim wanted a boy. So I kept teasing him it was a girl. 7 months... I picked girls names, looked at girls clothes... just to make him crazy. Well on February 10th, 1989 at 3:37am Jim jumped up and shouted "YES!" I told my doctor he didn't have to tell me, I already knew! It was worth it to see that moment of surprise and emotion on Jim's face. Wait, let it be a surprise!!!

I am unable to enlist until i make weight :) which I'm hoping to make by the end of October. Where could I look up the extra dependent allowance? My wife and I are playing with the budget for a kid...

I looked all over the pay articles... I could not find anything that dealt with a child. hmmmm... I'll have to keep looking and see if it might be stashed in some other part of the web site.

Ok, I googled and did some extra research. It looks like no matter how many dependents you have you will be payed the same, and the only difference is your BAH will be the Dependent Tables.

Quote from me... but they do up some things, I can't remember which allowances, for additional children.

That's why I said some ALLOWANCES! Pay is pay is pay across the board. ALLOWANCES they contribute a FEW more bucks. Like I also said, you aren't going to get rich but you get a few more dollars for a few extra kids.

So Macie already answered but the recruiter asked me if it was a single or multiple pregnancy and I told him single. Really that was all he asked for...not too much. But if they want they can request I doctors note I believe.
