    Re-Post: received no reply.

I am a civilian working on my OCS package and I had a quick question about cavities. I have hereditary soft teeth and over the years have picked up a few cavities and a chipped tooth (don’t worry it hasn’t messed up my smile!). I’m saving up and having them worked on as I have the money. My question is, will having cavities/chipped teeth hurt me when I go to MEPS or will it hurt my chances at OCS? If not, then when I get selected (keeping a positive attitude) will the CG do what I keep reading about for boot camp? Thanks for your help!

I passed MEPS several years ago with one childhood cavity. I don't even think they did an oral examination, but I do not recall.

Hmmm, ok. I have been worried about them. I can't afford to have them done all at once, and I've heard rumors of people not making it through MEPS or being kicked out of Boot for to many cavities. Which I have been looking into enlisting while applying for OCS, so I really want to know if it will hurt my chances to even enlist, much less get into OCS.

Aloha BCK- there is a CG Dentist that is on this forum quite a bit and he has been really helpful with these types of questions. If you want to send him a PM - his name is
DrCSK . He is a dentist at Cape May so I'm sure he will have the answers you need. I know he doesn't come on here all the time so be patient.

Usually having cavities isnt an issue. If you have more than 10 usually you need to sign a waiver that you agree to stay if your dental work cant be completed within the 8 weeks of boot camp.
