Hello well nice to see you enjoyed the ride. Well there are BM's, OS and GM's Ok GM's Are Gunners Mates, OS are Operations Specialist and BM's Boats Mates. Now on Active duty there are No MP'S per say the closest thing on active duty is a Gunners mate. No an OS is more like operations intelligance, they handle all the top secret and secret information on the boat, they also handle SAR (search and Resuce cases) However any Rate (job) you choose on the boat will still give you the option of being a BTM (Boarding Team Member) these are the folks that board the "emeny" vessels during searches or all types. I believe that there is an extra $150.00 amonth for ya. Now SPI is a hot spot that is where we are tryign to go next. Currently in SD, Ca. Your options are 50/50 alot depends on the rate you chose and the Billites (spots) available when you complete boot camp and, A school. I many case depending on you ambations with the CG they willo recommend that you do a boat tour first so you can work on getting some rank under your belt, before hitting shore duty. For the most everybody wears Blue ODU's I am not sure about the MST having diffrent uniforms that is a hard A school to get into the wait list use to be like a year long.... and I belive the school is about that long. You know you have to learn about the enviorment and, sea life all that. As for as your GED nope that's all you really need.
