Alright....I know that there are TONS of posts on here talking about joining the CG, and reading through them I don't really think that they fit what I'm looking for in a topic. So I apologize if I'm repeating some things! As a little background, from age 12-18 I was 100% Marines till retirement (or I got killed). Around 18 I decided....I kinda liked not being a maniac. I did a lot of work with the Marines, became Unit Leader at my local Young Marines unit, trained with the DEP's at the local recruiting office starting at 12, and pretty much lived planning on the Corps for life! Throughout then....I always said if I didn't join the Marines I'd go Coast Guard. Well.....21 now, been through 3 years of college (with some success and some failure) and I'm looking for something more. The Marines keep trying to get me to join with them, but in my growing up and figuring things out, I think I really want to go Coasties! I've put my call in to make an appointment with the recruiter (waiting for them to call back) but I wanted to get the view from those already in on what it is like, what I should expect, how daily life goes, and the different rate's they offer (gocoastguard.com does a kinda poor job of really outlining what each one does). Any assitance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone for your time!
