I am looking into the coast guard- boatswains mate as a rating. I will be a freshman this fall majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in spanish. I want to finish my 4 year degree without having to leave for extended periods of time.. I realize that joining the reserves I still have a good chance of being deployed on an active job, I am ok with that as long as I can start up school when I get back. What I want to know is- How likely will I be to be called up while in school? What can I expect to do at drills, and how flexible are drill times, and how likely am I to get the Unit I choose? I am going to school in Sault Ste, MArie MI and would like to be posted at a unit there.. thanks.
