    hello everyone,


    evereone seems real helpful here so I was wondering if you could help me something real quick.

    Enlisting in the Coast Guard is my main goal and aspiration but I'm having a hard time enlisting.  Everyone I talk to (recruiters) says the whole Coast Guard is filled to next July.  I want/need to go in much sooner than that and I heard there is a new class going in every week, if so why can't I be in one of these classes?

    It just makes me upset because I know I'd be an asset in serving the country in every way, should I wait to enlist or join the reserves and try to get active duty?

    any info is GREATLY appreciated...thank you

    Don't know how much this will help. I'm going through the same process and feel just about as lost as you but I think your refering to schooling after basic. My recruiter is apparently getting me in the coast guard but I wont be guarenteed a particular school. And the waiting lists for those schools were backed up to july. I may be wrong on this and if I am would you let me know because if there is that long of a waiting list then it will put me in a really bad position. Where did you get this? From your recruiter or is there somewhere on the internet that I can look up.

                   A quick word of advice, If the recuriter in your area is giving you the run around on getting in, get a number or go onto the Coast Guard website and get a number to another recuiter thats close to your area. Recuriter have quotas and when they make there quotas they don't work as hard to get you in. I have seen this in a few case and the problem was solved by just cantacing a different requriter, if you use the Web-sites chat they mite cantact your recuriter for you and get them on the job ASAP.
