    That IS really interesting! Thanks for sharing that. I highly recommend David Helvarg's book Rescue Warriors. It's a must read for anyone interested in the CG.

    It shows every time a democrat president takes office they do a reduction of force. Clinton did the same thing and than Bush had to repair what had occured. The US Coast Guard is a working force and should never be cut back. The CG has always worked with boats and ships that are older than most navy vessels. When a natural disaster hits and FEMA is slow to respond, the CG will be there to pick up the pieces from the failed administration. It will take a famous person to go down with his precious yacht again to see the CG is needed. How will the Navy escort themselves into port?
