Hi,
i'm new to these forums, lately i have been thinking of joining the Coast Guard, i am 18 years old and have a high school diploma, and some college units, i was THIS CLOSE to joining the Army, took the ASVAB and was about to swear in but managed to say no, i got a 61 on my ASVAB score, so they keep bugging and calling me to join still!!! But i was wondering about the Coast Guard and its rescue swimmer program(and no its not because of the upcoming movie) I have been wanting to join for a while, but the thing is that i'm a permanent resident and i thought maybe you need some sort of security clearance to be that. And if rescue swimmers are chosen or can choose the job?
I've been reading a lot about the physical and mental challenges that come with it but i think its worth a try, but i just can't find info on residency status.
Thanks in advance
