I am a DEP'er for the Reserve, and I listed the Strike Force location in my area as my first choice. I have an interview/additional processing coming up for that position, and I was wondering if anyone has an advice/experience/insight into what Strike Force is like for reservists.

    Chen,

You're an MST and don't know what the Strike Force is?!? Really?

    http://www.uscg.mil/hq/nsfweb/

The National Strike Force (NSF) provides highly trained, experienced personnel and specialized equipment to Coast Guard and other federal agencies to facilitate preparedness for and response to oil and hazardous substance pollution incidents in order to protect public health and the environment. The NSF’s area of responsibility covers all Coast Guard Districts and Federal Response Regions.

The NSF totals over 200 active duty, civilian, reserve, and auxiliary personnel and includes the National Strike Force Coordination Center (NSFCC); the Atlantic Strike Team; the Gulf Strike Team; the Pacific Strike Team; and the Public Information Assist Team (PIAT).

Strike Force is part of D.O.G. You'd have to go through the process of selection and specialized training before you can be with Strike Force. I don't believe you can just get "assigned".

I am going to MST A School, and we have the option of putting outselves on the list for review for admission to DOG strike force training. From what I've been told, there is an interview and some extra security checks. Since there is not a lot of info about it here, when I learn more that I can share I will!
