I'm new to the iphone world and am having a bit of a problem. A few days ago my iphone and I took an unwarranted dip in a pool....No bueno! All up until today, it didn't work AT ALL. Now, since this morning I can....kind of turn it on. IF, and only if, it's plugged in to the wall I can hit the button to turn it on and the "apple" comes on the screen.....that's it. I've had a friend tell me that the same happened to her and hers came back on in a few days. I've also had a couple people at work tell me that I have to reset the phone by plugging it in to my itunes like when ya first turn the phone on. Sounds easy, right? No....nothing is easy with me lol. My itunes program was originally on the computer at my parents. I was going to go today but realized that my step-dad wiped out the whole computer because it had a virus. My itunes and my profile on their computer no longer exist. Any insight? I'm baffled and pissed without my phone lol. ThanX!

No phone is likely to work after being dunked. Fresh water is slightly less of a problem than salt water but your first problem is to get it dry again. Put it in the sun, bake it in the oven on the very lowest setting, let it run with the power hooked up and the apple showing, whatever you can think of to dry it out.
Be prepared for the possibility is is really dead. |

Did you get the insurance with the phone? Will AT&T cover it if it got wet?? Good luck! I would be so lost without my phone! I have the G1 from Tmobile so I know nothing about the iphone.

I got it for Christmas, have to find out from the 'rents if it's insured. But it doesn't matter anyway, once it's wet they pretty much say tough luck.
Wep I've been told the baking thing too. I put it in a bowl of rice and let it sit overnight hooked up again, still nothing. Only thinkg I can think of is going to the Apple Store today after work, though I'd really like to avoid that lol.
Thanks Wep and Macie

i have an iphone. first at&t does not have insurance on the iphone so your shit out of luck there.. second your phones not going to come back. you can take it to an apple store and they can try fixing it but good luck. i think it should still be under warranty so they might give you a new one. dont take it to at&t they are licensed to carry the iphone but not to fix it. so you have no choice but to take it to apple.. Iphones are not meant to go swimming lol and usually any moisture on the phone screws it up. and the reset on itunes can also be done at the apple store for free... but like i said you have to go to an apple store to get your phone fixed.

yep I second Brittney's advice! Love my iphone!! No insurance though. Sounds like you've done all you can on your own.. Apple is good to their customers! Don't hesitate to go there.

Hey, I'm a bit of a tech guy. Do NOT bake the phone in the oven, I know people have tried and its works so on and so forth, more often than not it will just further ruin it. I've never had the iphone but I have had several Ipods that have taken a dip with my wife into a puddle, pool, random river, etc...don't ask I have no idea what she does with that thing. Your best bet to save it is to take it apart as far as possible and let it dry out. Most phones will dry out and be fine after about a week, speakers however, don't fare as well, good luck!

LMAO-I used a hair dryer and it worked for a while, but slowly but surely, every little thing went wrong with it. All I did was prolong the agony!

batterys fried dude...and one thing about the iPhone is that it doesn't have replaceable batteries...soo S.O.L.
when you get ur new one get the otterbox cover for it. It's water proof and shock proof...my son dropped mine in the toilet (he's 11 months old lol) and i have the otterbox and it works fine (after cleaning of course)

Perhaps it's time for a downgrade...

Have you ever seen a claymore mine up close?

LOL niiiice. So, I bleached the two markers that show if the phone has water damage. I acted stupid, told him my friend had it blah blah. Well, ended up there are two more water damage markers inside....oops. Oh well, it was worth a try to get it replaced. The guy said it's $199 for a replacement, Mommadukes asked if we can have a discount ( just for the hell of it, ya never know until ya ask ) and he said " Sure, I'm willing to do 25% off" sweet lol. So, with taxes, I ended up paying $160 instead of $220.

I will when I plan to go swimming lol. Unfortunatelly this was an unplanned dip in the pool, while it was freezing out too!
