Can anyone give me any word on striking sk and about how long it will take? Thanks for your time and always answering my questions. You guys and gals are great shipmates.

It's about the same as any other rate. It also depends on whether or not SKs are located at the unit or at a unit close enough for you to strike. With all of the requirements, depending on the individual figure 9 months to 1 year, not including the time you will have to wait to advance on the striker list.

Ok, so how long does it usually take since your name is put on the striker list until you get advanced and transfered as an SK3?

It depends on how many SK3 billets are open, and how many people are ahead of you on the list. Right now there is no fast track for advancing to 3rd Class. It's going to be a long wait whether you strike or wait for orders for school.

I am in the sixties on the A-SCHOOL list right now, and I am guessing I'll be getting orders to go to school in oct or nov approximately. My question is, if I strike (which I'm already starting to) is it more likely that I receive orders to transfer as an SK3 after or before the time I'm supposed to go to A-School?

Since you can (and I can't), try tracking how fast both the SK 'A' list and the SK supplemental advancement list are moving for the next month or two and then you should have a pretty good idea how fast you would move up one vs the other.

on a CG workstation, open the internet explorer, go to the CG toolbar>on the left click open the coast guard bar>other CG sites> PSC site> on the the PSC site it will have advancements in the middle of the page, go to the supplemental advancements>sk3.
