    I got good news! I got my billet at the unit i picked now it is time to pick a ship date to be a coast guard reservist...BUT Do you think by heading to boot camp now and enlisting before the OCS selection in the fall I could jeopardize my chances for OCS selection?
    The reason I ask is after a few months of being enlisted I will need my commanding officers recommendation for OCS whereas as a civilian I would not. Not sure if after a few months serving under my commanding officer they would be willing to do that for me? Let me know when you have a chance.

    I would highly encourage you to join and then apply. For one thing, you now have Coast Guard written on your resume. It is not too difficult to get your CO's endorsement. Set yourself up for success!
