OK, I know a few people here are in AUX but this forum is pretty much dead. Lets liven it up a bit eh?
First off, if you don't know, I recently joined AUX while waiting for active duty. My application is still pending because I just submitted it a couple months ago. Either way, I'm in/going to be in D7 Flotilla 34 out of Pompano Beach, Florida. I'm liking the people and the missions so far. I'm going to be taking my Safe Boaters course ( I've been boating with my parents for a few years, should have teken it before lol) Vessel Examiners course and Boat Crew member course as soon as possible. I also have a good friend and co-woker of mine that's been in the Flotilla at Air Station Miami ( forgot the Flotilla number ) that's shown me quite a bit. I'm eager to get started, help out as much as I can, meet as many people as I can and learn as much as I can before I go Active Duty.
So, what Flotilla are yaz in? Any fun experiences you'd like to share? Any tips? Lets share!
I'll start, actually lol. My friend in AUX in Miami took me to Sector Miami to meet a few of his friends, look around and go aboard Cutter Dolphin. That was a really cool experience. He also went on patrol with them a few times, and was telling me about the patrols he went on.
I also went to a meeting for that flotilla with him once. I got to walk around the Air Station, meet a bunch of Coasties, take a few pictures next to and IN SIDE OF a Dolphin chopper and Guardian jet.
Next he took me to STA Ft.Lauderdale. Again, I got to look around the station, talk to some of the Coasties there, tour the assets and go into the control room ( Not sure if that's what they call it. It's where all the comm eqipment at OS's are. )
These experiences were before I joined AUX and actually before I started the process for Active Duty, but thought I'd share anyway.
Oh and one more thing. My recruiter took me to Sector/Station Miami to tour Cutter Chandeleur. That was my first 110 I've been on. It was fun and I accidentlly met and woke up one of our posters here out of his rack (JBennett09). My bad, BM said it was ok to walk in lol. OK i'm done now, your turn
