    Howdy all,

Does anyone know anything about USCG Warrant Officers? I know in the Army you need to be a certain rank and have certain operational experience and training under your belt, but what what are the requirements for the CG? Are there certain fields that Warrants work in, or would it be every rate?

    Thanks!

You need to be an E-6, and be in the top 50% of the E-7 advancement list in order to apply. Every rating has a warrant officer path. It depends on your rating which one applies to you. As a Storekeeper or Food Service Specialist, your path would be Finance and Supply. As a Machinery Technician, your path would be Engineering.

Or the oddest path of all, at least in my opinion, ASTs become marine science warrants.

And they used to become MAT warrants, which I always thought was much more weird. Someone decided previously that Rescue Swimmer = Damage Controlman. Scratching my head about that one. :-)

I saw that the CG doesn't have WO1 or WO2, does that mean they start at WO3? Is that WO3 for pay too?<!-- Edit -->

We start at W2, and we go up to W4

Or, you can make the jump from Warrant to LT.

A BM that makes Warrant will become a Bos'n. They are the ring leaders of the bozo clowns devil.

For him to go LT, yes he would lose money. However, it would balance out when / if they make O-4.

Warrants do not fly in the Coast Guard. They are subject specialists in their respective fields. If you are looking to go the flying route, AET, if on C130's will go through navigation school, etc. Regardless of which route, You are becoming more familiar with the flight aspects which will help you to be a better aviator. Will it help you in the selection process? Possibly, but I would not count on it.

Most likely not. Going from CWO to LT, you generally stay in your career field.
