I'm thinking about yeoman, but have a few questions:

    1. Given the fact that a yeoman is in charge of personnel issues, and solving personnel problems (as the description says, "yeomen are key problem-solvers"), are such duties primarily for YN2 and above? As in, would a YN3 actually get to talk to people, handle their issue, research problems, etc... or would the YN3 be merely sorting the mail, making copies, refilling the stapler, etc... instead? I mean in terms of primary duties--what would a YN3 most *commonly* be doing?

    2. How quickly does the YN rate promote? If I go YN, I'd want to make third by my 1.5 year mark, and maybe make second by my four year mark...practical or no?

    3. Any other insight into the life of a YN or YN3?

    Thanks.

there is a YN3, was a striker, she helped me do the same things that our unit's YN2 did. From getting my car decals, setting up allotments, copies of orders, answering pay problems, changing my state of residence.

I see. Thanks for the information.

I have one more question: are the post-A-school assignments assigned based on sea time, or class rank? The Petaluma website does not say; it merely says students fill out an e-resume and are given assignments (I figured as much).

some say its based purely on your scores from A school, some factor in sea time, time in, awards, soforth. I prefer them factoring your career into assignments.

My bm3 said that they had 20 people in class, had 20 picks, #1 in the class went and picked, #2 went and picked and so forth.
