Ive been thinking for a while now about joining, but i just dont know if the CG is for me. I have a few questions like, what is boot camp like? If i get into bc and i figure being in the CG isnt for me, can i pack up and come home? Would they ship me off to the middle east? I have a fear about the ocean, would i HAVE to be put on a boat? or would i be stationed on the coast somwhere? Is the CG basically like a 8-5 job? Would i have to be stuck at a base, or could i live off base in the surrounding area? The CG dosnt seem to bad... but i dont like the idea of being out to sea on a boat for weeks or months at a time... Any help to make my decision would be greatly appreciated...
Definitely, do NOT join if you abhor sea duty.
Your preferences above make you a less than desirable candidate for military service of any kind. This is not to denigrate you, rather I'm culling this from your preferences above.
None of the services is an 8-5 job. You may not be able to afford to live in the surrounding area (living on the economy) as the CG has bases in some very expensive cities.
No, you can't "pack up and go home" because you have a signed commitment for about 6 years of your life.
My advice (for what it's worth): Seek other employment.
