I've been flip floping between reserve and active and I thought I finally decided on reserve. Well yesterday I went to MEPS and they still have me as active. My recruiter hasn't changed the paperwork yet. Which got me thinking....again. The big reason I was going to go reserve over active was because I wanted more time for school. Since then I've learn I hate going to school full time. I'm still going to go to school but going full time isn't for me. I was wondering how the GI bill works for reserve and active for a part time student? Also if there is an active duty person who is going to school who can lend some advice? I feel so bad for my recruiter because I still haven't decided and I need to soon before I leave for boot camp in June.

confused I'll be thankful for any advice

I'm on active duty, and going to college online. I've been to a myriad of "C" schools which counted for credits, about 54 total. I haven't paid for any of the classes I've taken, and I haven't touched my GI Bill. If every works out, I'll use it for my PhD.

If you go Reserve, you are going to be a Reservist, switching to AD is HIGHLY unlikely. Choose wisely.

Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.

My ex-husband is active duty... he has earned 2 Associates Degrees, a Bachelors and a Masters all while on active duty, never paying for a single class and has gone from being an E-2 fresh out of boot camp to a 24+ year active duty career and becoming a Commander in the process.

Active duty, part time student and no money out of your pocket... It isn't easy, Gears won't tell you it is and no one else will either that has done it... But they will all tell you it is completely possible and doable!!!

school and active is hard, I just started, it will be a challenge but it's worth the reward. plus it's free and doesn't use your GI bill.
