I have a Belgian Malinois and she is confused for a Shepherd. But I thought maybe your girl was a Belgian Teuvarian. My Belgian won't even go out in the grass if it rained overnight... God forbid her little toes get wet! LOL However, I have a white lab and a black lab, they more than make up for Hilde's lack of water interest! LOL

My last unit had a Belgian Malinois as one of our explosive K-9's. His handler always got pissed when someone confused him for a German Shepherd.

Ooh, I love Malinois! They're like German Shepherds with the energy of a Jack Russell Terrier.

People always call her a Shepherd but she is so much taller and sleaker looking, not so stocky. We adopted her from a pound, as far as anyone can tell she is a pure bred and just a beauty. She is also an incredible protector. With any of us that are residents in our house, she is soft & gentle & an absolute love, walk by my fence. She will not be happy that you are there and will tell you so!!

And with the teeth of a damn T-Rex. The handler for our Malinois, Shane, asked me one day "Wanna play a game with Ferro (the dog)? Being the genius that I am, I said "sure". Shane hands me a rolled up towel that we use as toys for the dogs. He has ne hold each end with my hands. He says, "ok, I'm gonna have Ferro run up and grab the towel, and you can spin him around in the air." Again, to demonstrate my great wisdom, I say "ok, no problem." So I'm holding the towel, and Ferro comes barreling toward me, and clamps down. For the most part, he gets the towel, but his outer teeth go into each of my hands. Shane saw that I got bit and says "you didn't do it right. Try it again." As if I still haven't gotten my point across to you as to how stupid I am, I say "sure, why not?" So once again, Ferro is hauling ass towards me, and clamps down for the second time. Sure enough, he got me in the hands again. As I'm standing there bleeding, I realized not to trust the K-9 handler when he uses a sentence like "wanna play a game?" Ferro is an awesome dog though. We had him, and we had a yellow labrador named Sparky. The best behaved and trained dogs that you could ever meet.

She is a fabulous dog. I couldn't imagine a better girl. No one believes us when we say she is sweet because we are the only ones that see it. Jim's current wife used to raise & show Malinois. When Jim & Whitney first got together she had Vadder. That was absolutely the love of her life. Colin was only about 8-ish... he went to put on his coat, which was anorak style, so it pulled over his head with a half zipper type thing... anyway, he was flailing his arms to get them in the coat. Vadder locked onto that coat and was not going to give up. Colin then figured it was a game and whenever he put his coat on he made sure Vadder saw the flailing fabric. Luckily Colin never got bit because those teeth would have hurt an 8 year old. Vadder would never have meant to hurt him but he could have. That was a really sweet dog, too, fierce protector but sweet. Cooch, what the heck were you thinking! I love how YOU did it wrong, try again and you just go merrily down that path letting Ferro get a 2nd bite at that apple! LOL

I'm no quitter! I wanted to get it right! Besides, that was nothing comparted to the time he bit Shane. For some reason, Ferro got weirded out by Shane petting him on his back one time, and clamped down on his arm. Ferro had to go to behavioral training after that, but he turned out fine.

Beautiful dog Macie! And call me crazy, but I love decoying for the police department's K9 unit. I volunteer with a youth program sponsored by the police department, and so when they bring the dogs to do a demo for the program, I get to be the decoy, and it's so much fun

This is an older picture of my 3 babies! Hilde is the Belgian, Gabby is the black lab and Gussy is the white lab. They are also in order of age, Hilde was 4 on Christmas Day, Gabby just turned 2 in January and Gus will be 2 in June.
On top of my 3 canine loves, I have 3 feline loves as well. All of them babies! Scooby is 5 and Frankie & Fletcher are 18 months.
Together, Scott & I have 3 boys... 25, 23 & 21. I guess we just do everything in 3s! LOL
