    MY LOCATION;    SARASOTA BAY, SARASOTA, FLORIDA

    MY QUESTION;
             RED EMGENCY BUTTON ON VHF RADIO SHOULD SEND LAT/LONG COORDINATES FOR IMMEDIATE RESCUE SHOULD THER BE EMERGENCY.
    BEFORE EMERGENCY EXISTS, WHAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO TEST THAT THE EMERGENCY SIGNAL IS PROPERTY INSTALLED AND WILL WORK CORRECTLY ?

    DSC came along after I retired. Contact your nearest Coast Guard Group office or small boat station for an answer. They should be able to tell you this basic question. Also, did you check the user's guide for your radio? Sorry if this sounds condescending. Many people don't read the manual that came with the book, it just might be in there.
