What do Coasties do with their stuff? Are they all leaving it with family as non-rates or is there some other arrangement the Coast Guard has?

Yes, if they live on board the ship, they either leave it with family or they pay to put it in storage.

Pardon the pun, but my son still has a boat load of crap in my house! I'm in no rush to get rid of it, he can keep it here for as long as he likes... I just wish he had straightened it up a bit prior to leaving 16 months ago!!! Sheesh! What a mess! But it will be here until he retires if he doesn't want to claim it until then.

I think it works like the lost and found. After 30 days, you can do what you want with it. lol

Ha! I'm so glad I had Dan pack his stuff before he left. He didn't take much and left a lot, but at least it's somewhat organized!

lol if my mom and dad said Gear Adrift its for sale to me, they'd both be able to pay to come visit me, when I visited home I got rid of a lot of my stuff, made $800 on quick sales of stuff.

    lol gear adrift.
