My son just wrote me from boot camp. He said he'll serve at PSU 301 in Cape Cod. He also said he'll most likely be sent to Kuwait. Have any other PSU reserves been to Kuwait?

I am in PSU 307, There is NO GUARANTEE that he is going to Kuwait, it may be Bahrain, My unit OPSEC every PSU has a time just about every 3 years to go on an overseas deployment and there is no yes or no option especially if your in a unit like mine that is WAY understaffed so we are VERY short handed.
Just curious what company is or was your son in, i just graduated myself with Hotel 183

Thanks for your reply! He's in Mike 183, graduating July 9th. His unit is PSU 301 Cape Cod, and he's actually excited about the prospect of getting deployed. Can I ask how you like the PSU? He's heard it's one of the coolest jobs a reservist could have.

My youngest son just graduated from Papa 183 last Friday (30 July 2010), and is also headed to PSU 301. He was presented his graduation certificate by his oldest brother, who just finished his six-year Reserve hitch as a plank owner of PSU 301.
Oldest son was on two deployments... the voluntary one to Guantanamo Bay, December 2006 to June 2007, where approximately half the unit strength went; and the almost-all-hands one to Kuwait (only the FSes - Food Service Specialists - stayed behind), June 2009 to January 2010.
The normal PSU assignment lasts five years, and a good rule of thumb is two deployments during that five-year period (post-hurricane activations don't count).

Hey BM3psu, Papa 183 is sending you a "boat load" of new shipmates! In fact, of all the PSU-bound new Reserve graduates, the 307 contingent outnumbered all the other PSUsters combined.

I'm going to be an ME. It seems like this cape cod unit is very active. Do you think I would be allowed to volunteer to deploy with this unit in the future? My sector is going to be Staten Island, N.Y.

Im a ME from PSU-301. We most likely wont go to Kuwait anytime soon but don't quote me on that as anything can change at any moment. We are looking at someting around 2015. We can be anywhere in the world and operational in 96 hours. Being in PSU-301 is a good thing seeing as how it takes the lead and is the go to unit for the DOG (Deployable Operations Group). You can also look foward to potentially traveling the world for your two week ADT.
As far as volunteering to deploy with the PSU from another unit it all depends on the mission and can vary from PSU to PSU depending on their unit readiness.
