    I was wondering if anyone can tell me what it's like to be a BM in the reserves. I was wondering what a typical weekend would be like at a small boat station. Are they always involved in search and rescue because that's what I want to do. Also, would I be able to go on search and rescue missions straight out of bootcamp or do I have to go to A school first. Thanks for any clarification on this.

    You'll have to become a certified boat crewmember to participate in SAR. Whether or not you're involved in SAR depends on the unit. At some units Reservists maintain a deployment readiness status, other augment the AD crews.
