Dad, congratulations on the orders! Texas isn't so bad. I hope your son enjoys his time in Galveston, he'll get to see a whole new part of the world with a completely different attitude & pace... he'll have a great time. Let us know after you talk to him this weekend what station he got for sure. |

They may be battening down the hatches in Cape May for the impending hurricane. Blogs are the last thing on their minds right now, safety & security is first. |

Gears,
Thanks for the offer, i sent you a PM
Thanks to everyone else. It's amazing how fast (at least for us) time is going by. I know he wants to come home before he goes to Galveston, so it will be a whirlwind trip out to cape may and back, then on to Galveston. Anxious for the call tomorrow. |

I heard from my son today V183 about flight arrangements. Asked him about on-base liberty and he said they didn't earn it. Couldn't really talk but said he was fine. I asked if they were busy getting ready for the storm and he said "yes". That's about it. 2 more weeks! Can't go by fast enough for me and I'm sure them. Miss the blog too. Must be too busy to put them up - no units have them up. So very proud of all of them. |

Yes they did help him with his flight. He called to find out our flight home so they could book him on hopefully the same one. |

My son called to tell me what flight 'they' had booked - so I quickly made my reservations for the same return flight. We are going to do a day of sight-seeing in Phili before returning home. We had talked about this before he left - something he was wanting to do. I guess since they have him flying to Jax that means he will be stationed in Jacksonville like the recruiter said. :-) I'm sure he is happy. (Jax is where we fly out of so this worked great for us) :> What a great blog this week! Love to know all those details :> |

Yeah, i see my post...finally! I was upset to read that v183 did not earn liberty this weekend! I was so looking forward to a phone call. We only heard from our son for three minutes a week ago. we have been receiving letters, which i love. Can't wait until graduation! These recruits and their accomplishments are awesome! I am a proud parent!!! Does anyone have a recruit who is a reservist in v183 besides me? How about a son or daughter who is going to mk school in virginia in november?

My son Kris is with V183 and is a reservist stationed in Ft. Pierce, FL. He is going to A school in VA November 15th too. Just talked to him - they got liberty after all. Sounded good! They have liberty til 2100 to talk on the phone, eat chow and see a movie tonight. He said they hadn't earned their colors yet bc they aren't working as a team. Let's hope they get them soon. Had a lot to say, we talked a long time. So nice! He said they are all sore and a little sick from the small pox vacinnation they got. All are excited for the finish line and graduation. He said the first 4 weeks are really tough and you wonder why you decided to do this but week 5 and now week 6 they know their commanders want what is best for them and he's glad he did it! Just thought I'd pass on my son's view! Hope you all got to speak with your sons and daughters. It made my day! |

I think all of us will be there with bells on! Ha. Glad you finally found this site - this and the You Tube videos "It's just 8 wks" and the interviews with recruits on You tube have kept me informed on what they are up against. Sr. Bales is my son - he is a reservist going to A School 11-15-10 in VA. Hawaii sounds really nice! She must be happy! See you at graduation. Colleen |

CaptKyguy - Yes it is! He knows that they all just have to give 100% and that is all the commanders want. It's good to know that he realizes that this is a process and everything they do and every punishment they get, starts to make sense. I could tell he was proud of what they have accomplished as a unit, as well they should. |

Dear StAugMom, My older son moved to Philly in March. I know this sounds corny, but we took a double decker bus city tour and really enjoyed in. A very historical city, clean and quiet. It was great to talk to my son, Kevin on Sat.Our connection was not that great. He could hear us, but we could barely hear any info from him. We wanted to ask him so many things. We write letters to him all the time, he does respond, but doesn't always answer our questions. He's looking forward to liberty off base next week. He said they want to go up to Wildwood. I hope he makes good choices!! I'm really enjoying this forum and everybody's positive comments. Thank you all! S, Wippel |

Swippel ~ Not corny at all - We've done the 'tourist thing' when we have visitors here in st augustine - kind of fun to do once in awhile. :> That does sound like fun to ride a double decker bus :> Thanks for the input :> We heard from our son Daniel saturday too-has a pretty bad case of athletes foot from what it sounds~ Yikes! So much for the calling card he took with him-had to call collect-said the phone wouldn't take the #...can't imagine all his minutes being used.? Maybe the phones weren't working on their end - oh well- atleast they got thru to us :> Yes - I like this forum too. It is so good to get information - even when it is about someone elses son/daughter. |

Hi. My son will be shipping out to Cape May Nov. 30th. Anything you have would be really helpful. He's so excited. He's been working towards this for over a year. |
