Hi, I recently posted about OCS and marriage. And my parents thought reserves might be a good idea. I had little knowledge about what reserves were before doing some research. But now it's sounding better and better. On top of everything some have even said that if one chooses to apply to OCS it could be easier to get in after being in the reserves for a while. Is this all true? What experience do people have here with being newlyweds or married or recent college grads going into reserves? Thanks |

Think about it, You have two individuals that are very similar in degrees, GPA, Background etc, the main difference between the two is one has actual CG background, has gone through boot camp, understands the core values and missions of the CG. The CG has one spot to fill, Which will they take? My guess is the prior trained. I was a reservist while in the USAF, and was married (newly). It was very doable. 1 week a month and two weeks a year are not that bad. Keep in mind though, that is minimum. You can expect to get deployed more often. |

| I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. |
