Congrats on your ship date Are you going Reserve? That's what I'm trying to do. If you don't mind me asking, how long did you wait for Meps and how long was the entire process? |

Thanks, I'll be going into active duty once I graduate basic. I first talked to my recruiter in November of 2009, took my ASVAB in January, Medical in February, entered the DEP in June, and getting ready to ship in August, so grand total it took around 9 months. This all took place during my senior year in high school so you need a Diploma before you can ship. |

Thanks, you guessed correctly though, I am going active. I started processing back around November 2008. I was supposed to ship earlier in 2010 but some things came up. |

Mustang, Do you have a ship date for the 17th of August? If so, great!. If not, please use the general questions board for your posts. This forum is for those with ship dates. |

Chuckles, I know it seems like I'm not paying attention to how I classify my questions. However, I was only asking here because when I ask in the other catagories I have a hard time getting any answers. I asked people with ship dates because of the fact that they went through the entire process. I'm just trying to get help. And I haven't been posting a question in this category. I have made conversation with someone that posted their date. Ive noticed several users getting off subject when replying to questions. |

Mustang, There aren't that many that post to this forum that are going reserve, I think that might be why you are having a harder time finding an answer to your question. You are absolutely correct that we get off track sometimes in 180 degrees but this area seems to stay on track with shippers comparing notes for the day they leave. I think Chukles is just trying to keep this one area as "on track" as possible. If this were your ship date and you were checking back to possibly connect with some new shipmates bfore departing home and it was someone throwing the thread off with other questions & not in your company, wouldn't it bug you a bit??? I'm sympathetic to your question, I know you are just trying to get an idea and compare notes... but someone that is shipping out reserve and isn't shipping on this date might not ever check this thread. That's all the point that was being made. So I know waiting for someone with an answer is difficult when you just want to know... but please, wait in the correct area and eventually someone will be along in the same boat as yourself. Thanks! Hi, Macie, Not trying to argue with you but I honestly wouldn't mind if I was posting my ship date and someone asked me for help. I would be happy to. I wasn't trying to clutter this section of the forum, I was just asking a quick question to somebody that had went through the process. Im not going and adding new questions, I'm asking a quick question among everyones chats. I don't see why that is anymore annoying then when other users get of subject. I'm not trying to get fussy but it just doesn't seem like anyone else gets corrected when they deviate. I just figured if I could get a couple quick answers why not. If I ask in another section it doesn't get answered. I will just go somewhere other than this website to find information from here on out. Thanks.

I'll be shipping out of San Diego, Ca. How about you, where are you being sent out from? Do you have any ratings in mind that you want to aim for after boot camp? |

I'll be shipping out from Milwaukee, WI along with two others. I was leaning towards BM, but I know it will be a long time before that happens since the schools packed. |
