LOL crowtastic, your company commanders reverted romeo to healy hall as tango one night. And made them walk slow and exaggerate relaxation in the galley one day. They were always doin somethin crazy.
I don't want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me.

My son was in a company that got offered Halloween Candy by the Base Commander. After they took the candy they all were punished!!!!! It made quite a stir as many parents complained on blogs. Don't complain about a specific incident or person. The Boot Comp has "eyes" on all the forums! The best advice is do what you are told. Sense of urgency!

Complaining about how your recruit is being treated is a really bad idea! They know what they are doing, they are trained beyond what you could ever possibly imagine. I promise you they are not locking your child in a closet depriving them of light & food. If there are things like Halloween or Easter candy given and punishment handed out... roll with it. I guarantee it is something your recruit is already looking back on saying "That was just the craziest day... we loved it!"

Outside looking in is never the same as inside looking in and earning your right of passage...no matter what the organization.

That was one of the boot camp "classic" episodes. The message that was being sent was that "the enemy comes in many disguises"...be wary of gifts from strangers. Kind of the Trojan Horse story. It also happened to my son's company 8 years ago. Lessons were learned...the hard way.

There is a story this morning in the news... I believe this is EXACTLY the scenario in which Pepper is refering...

BAGHDAD – Gunmen burst into a house north of Baghdad early Wednesday, killing three people and sending the surviving children to an Iraqi army checkpoint to lure soldiers to the residence. As the troops arrived at the booby-trapped house, it blew up, leaving eight soldiers dead.

What one of us wouldn't go running if a child came and said something happened at their house??? The enemy comes in many disguises. God Speed to the eight dead, from what I can tell from the article they are all from the Iraqi Army and not Americans but these were men just trying to help children and they are now gone.

I heard from someone who just graduated basic that being the watch coordinator is the best job you can have at basic, is this correct?

I was the watch coordinator in my company and I really liked it. Being watch coordinator had its ups and downs, but overall I enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it to any recruit.
