Craigslist is also good! However, use ANY site as reference ONLY!!!! Apartmentguide is good but I can tell you from personal experience they list an apartment in NJ that looks really nice!!! Pictures are pretty, overlooks the river, nice balcony... I wouldn't put a guard dog in there overnight for fear of the drugs, gangs & prostitutes. Same for Craigslist, when we moved to Texas we found the PERFECT house on Craigslist, then we got here & we went to see it. Oh sure, the house was gorgeous, the yard was huge, the bedroms were immense... we walked in and the smell about knocked us off our feet! The previous tenants had a couple of dogs, I do too, but their dogs decided using the huge backyard was silly when there is perfectly good carpeting in the house! So use the internet, research, look at pictures, find a neighborhood you like... then do nothing!!!!!!!! Wait until you get to where you are going and then look with your own eyes. You might regret signing up for something on line but you won't regret what you see with your own eyes, smell with your nose, hear with your ears... :-) The CG gives you the time to find a place, don't rush into something that could turn into the worst 6 or 12 months ever!! |
