I am trying to help get our daughter ready for boot camp... would someone please tell me when purchasing socks, do they need to be a certain length? daughter would like "no show" but I believe they have to be over the calves?

I also have read on here that the recruits sometime go and purchase "go Phones" at walmart when they get their first liberty... what do they do with them when the day is done?

any help would be appreciated!

The no show socks are a no go! There are pictures of recruits on the blog page, they are running, in shorts... you can get an idea of the length from that. I forget what they are called... sport, I think. That mid-calf type thing. The type that never stay up and fall down a lot! ARGH!

As for the go phones... they can just be tossed in the garbage if they have run down all the minutes talking on it or they can take it back to base but surrender it to the CC as soon as they get there. It should get locked up and returned upon graduation. It's only 6 days later...

Lol, I hated the white socks they gave us! So nerdy looking! I always wear black no show socks. so these calf high white socks, I hated em! Everytime we wore PT gear I wouldn't pull em all the way up and ME2 Vanover would scream at me, "SETNICKY PULL YOUR SOCKS UP! YOU'RE STILL IN CAPE MAY, YOU CAN HAVE STYLE WHEN YOU GET IN THE FLEET!" hahah

hahah I definelty felt like a nerd with my bc glasses and high socks. plus my pt shorts were lose that i had to wear them extra high. I was a female version of steve urkel, and some chief mentioned that too

You don't have to, they issure plenty. But you sweat so much you might want to change some more. If you want to bring more just bring about 3 pairs of white tube socks that reach your calfs. But I really wouldn't even bother.

bring more. You could have some shipmate jack one from you, accidently take one, lose one, get lost in the laundry.
