I am new to this. I sent in my medical records back in March or April and was cleared to start testing. I wanted to wait and study on the ASVAB test before taking in order to get my scores that I need to be able to have the possibility to be competitive for AST. In that time frame I got a minor right Inguinial Hernia. I am going to have the surgery done in the next month or so. My specialist said I will be back in everything within 2 - 3 weeks and after 6 weeks will have my final follow up. Will this make me disqualified for entry into the Coast Guard or AST School later. I heard the waiting period for MEPS on this was 6 months from the date of surgery. Does anyone have any insight on this matter. Anything will help. Thank you for your time and comments.

The wait for surgery is 6 months with no complications. With the surgery, you are temporarily DQ'd for Coast Guard (and other services) until the required time has lapsed. At that point, get all med docs to your recruiter.
