SO I HAVE A JUVENILE RECORD, WHAT NOW? Contrary to what you have been told by DOD recruiters or even your lawyer, all issues concerning arrests or law involvement must be revealed to your recruiter. When you join the Coast Guard, a security clearance is run on you. Issues that have been expunged, stricken, or removed from your record WILL, I repeat WILL be seen. Fraudulent enlistment is not a joke. Lie to your recruiter and get caught doing so will at best stop your enlistment, and at worst, get you discharged for a fraudulent enlistment which will hamper your future job prospects. Additionally, if you had, for example, a DUI and had it pled down or reduced after a period of time for good behavior, the Coast Guard will look at the original charge, DUI. Clarify any issues of this type with your recruiter. Felony convictions are an immediate show stopper. You cannot enlist with a Felony on your record.

| I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. |
