Funny thing is i go and take my test tomorrow also i am going to the Detroit meps. I have a few questions though how long does it usually take to complete the computerized version? And do I need to bring anything else besides the paperwork like pencils, pens, paper or etc? Thanks for all the help so far and wish me and Bella luck. |

I went to MEPS on monday/tuesday to take the ASVAB and the physical. My recruiter told me I needed at least a 70 to even be considered as an applicant and told me I needed to make like a 80-90 to be competitive. Well..at the end of the test they gave me my test scores and was a bit depressed when I saw my score: "AFQT: 69" Ohh well I could come back in 30 days and take it again I thought. So I finished up at MEPS and my recuiter came and picked me up. "So, what date do you want to ship out?" I was thinking he must have thought i was someone else. We talked and as it turns out, I AM going to bootcamp. I still cant believe that I got in with a 69! Just remember, the recruiters don't just look at the test score but also your personality, moral and self confidence. Good luck Bella and JDW you will do fine.

A 72 is a good score, and it should qualify you for most jobs. Great job! |

Hold your head up high Jdw21...you did well! Nothing quite like your recruiter putting you on ice for 2 weeks making you wait in ice cold anticipation before knowing if you can move forward in the process...I like him...lol |

Don't stress. It's a good score. Based on what I know about you, I would put you in with that score. That's the same score I got back in the day lol. |

All this back in the day talk one would think Cooch was like 80 something...HAHAHAHA Back in the day a good fishing hole or a buddy could get you in the fire service...now a completely different story...we will know more about you then you will know about yourself... For some reason we keep raising the ladder rungs higher and higher…

Fire service was my choice of job up until i decided on the coast guard because i took a emt class this last year of high school but decided otherwise as you see. and if cooch was any where near 80 years old he would be a whole lot wiser than he is. lol but in my opinion he is wise enough. |

Bella, Don't say that... I know how disheartening it can be but pull yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. It may have just been a case of the nerves and you interpretted every question backwards. Don't ever give up on something you really want. Try again, you'll do better on the 2nd try. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't do so well, but don't stop trying! Macie |
