    Hello everyone!

    The idea of joining the Coast Guard has always occupied a part of my mind, even from early childhood.  It may be the result of my father serving in Alasaka (and his stories), the toy Coast Guard rescue helicopter I played with, or even more recently when I watched a few USCG helicopters fly over my ship as I returned from a Semester at Sea in the summer of 2009.  I am from North Eastern Connecticut and I applied to the USCG recruiting office in Hartford back in May 2010 after I graduated from UCONN.  Since then I have been steadily studying for ASVAB and hoping to demonstrate my interest and dedication to go through with this.  I was asked to call back at the end of August after a series of e-mails and phones calls; I hope I will be able to get something going soon!  If all goes according to plan I would like to become an MST someday.  Nothing would make me more happy than to be 1 of nearly 40,000 unique individuals that work to protect our country of about 310 million!
