Hey everyone!
I'm located here in beautiful rainy Oregon and just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm currently in the middle of my application process (awaiting my MEPS date) and I'm very excited about joining the Coast Guard. The rating I'm going for is the OS rating and I'm stoked. My recruiter is doing a great job and has been very helpful along the way (shout-out to all the other recruiters on the forums; You are awesome people!) Anyway, just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself!

Hi 13, Welcome aboard. I lived in Roseburg, OR for a while. Good luck with your enlistment, sounds like things are just moving right along for you. Let us know if you have any questions. Macie |

I was considering EM since it's gauranteed at the moment. But I'm second guessing that now that I've done some research. If I don't, I don't know what rate I'm going to do since they all have about the same wait time. |

Thanks Macie! And Civ2, definitely make sure it's something you want to do for the long haul It would be horrible I imagine getting stuck in a rating that you have no desire for. |

As a matter of fact, ET was my first pick, EM was my second and BM was my third! Since BM and ET are similar waits I'm having a hard time choosing one |

If you are basing your job decision on wait time, you may be gravely disappointed with the job you choose. You may truly be happy in either job but BM and ET are polar opposites regards to what you do and how you do it. Its your decision but I woiuld suggest picking a job that meets your desires instead of meeting your wait time. Good luck. |

it is worth the two+ year wait to get the job you want. Lots of us are going through it, it will make you a better petty officer when the time comes. |

I'm from Oregon as well, how do you like our recruiters over here? Do you have a ship-out date? |

Heya Alf, the recruiter I am going through is in Humboldt Bay, CA. My presonal recruiter is an awesome guy who is really on the ball about his job. And yes, I ship out on December 14th. Feel free to send me an PM; I'd be happy to answer any questions I can for you. |
