hi i am new to this site and currently pursuing a career in the coast guard reserves and I have a few questions
is 35 to old to join and I have 3 sons? are there any opportunities in becoming a officer. I have a bachelors degree and have owned a landscape company for 14 years? I receieved a dui in 2006. I did everything the court requested, however could this still be a problem? I currently weigh 215lb and I am 6 ft tall. will that be a problem I would really like to work out of the Curtis Bay yard in Baltimore, are there a great deal of opportunities.
any help is appreciated

Unfortunately you cannot enlist because you have more than 2 dependents. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |

I am thinking the rules are different as far as that is concerned for Reserves. Regular active duty, you are right, he is done with that many dependents. But for reserves, that is a horse of another color. I'm not sure of the regs, but I do believe they are different. |

According to the Recruiting Manual... RESERVES ONLY Married with NO MORE THAN SEVEN DEPENDENTS May Apply. |

IMHO, if someone has seven dependents, they ought to have their sanity checked first... |

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. |

Wep, When I was pregnant with Colin there was an officers wife who was pregnant at the same time. I know the number 12 comes intol play... I don't remember if she was having her 12th child or if she had 12 and was pregnant with lucky 13. The housing they lived in were 4-plexes, 2 over, 2 under. Because they had so many dependents they had the entire top floor, 2 apartments, all to themselves. There was another officer family, they had 8. You're right... need their heads examined! LOL |
