Can you tell me much about being stationed in Puerto Rico? Or any links to previous threads that might give me some info? How's PR? What about housing in Rio Bayamon? Any good info to know?
What's it like in Guam?
Any females that have been assigned to these places with their perspective?

Guam has snakes. Brown tree snakes.... Google it. Hawaii is snake free and a favorite vacation spot for Indiana Jones. |

Thanks for the info! ....not too interested in Hawaii. Just wondering about Guam and Puerto Rico. Hopefully there is more to Puerto Rico than cheap beer at the exchange. |

They have an awesome rainforest that has natural waterslides. Lots of tourists right outside the gate to the base, where most cruise ships pull up. I wouldn't bring a car there because driving on their "roads" are hectic. Theres a fort something there too but I had duty and didn't get to go. There is a bad side of san juan you have to stay away from. Pretty nice nightlife, I wish I would have brought my canon, they have street vendors, and the plaza by the base always has something going on at night, I can't wait to go back.

at drydock we have basically a garage door, and there is this mouse that hangs out up there. One day while eating lunch you just hear a squeal and a snake drops down to the deck with the mouse in it mouth, and eats the whole thing. I don't do snakes. alligators spiders all available to us free of charge at the drydock. No guam for me. |

If you get assigned to one of the "Great White Needles of Death )...thats a 378' Cutter based in Hawaii, suprisingly you may find yourself spending a significant amount of time patrolling ALASKAN waters.....The best of both worlds. Fun in the sun, and fishin' off the fantale in Alaska...or seeing the Inside Passage for free! |

If I have to go to a big white after A school i'd love to go to the rush. My stomach would appreciate a land billet though. |

The housing in Bayamon is one of the best military housing there is! I was stationed at GANTSEC for three years and loved the housing they offered (for married couples). We did lots of tubing and fishing, however the food takes some getting used to. Learn to speak "fast food spanish" as quickly as you can. you will need it. Have fun if you get stationed their!!! |
