Oh this started an ugly debate a few months ago... here we go again.

I by no means agree with it and I haven't even been yet, seems way to laid back to me...Just my opinion though...the calls home would  be nice though for those that have a family.

Here I go...

Absolutely no cell phones use! And the yelling is just so that everyone in the company can hear and learn the valued lesson from the CC or TI or DI or whatever they may be referred to in other branches...I sure know I do not like to repeat myself softly to each and every recruit so that they can hear what I had to say for another recruit at the fire academy....

does this mean that we can all make fun of the army boot camp?
hmmmm, on second thought im sure they would have the last laugh (if) when im at basic getting yelled at, running on 4 hours of sleep, hungry, and wanting to call my mommy. hahaha

When a Coast Guard recruit leaves Cape May, they are expected to hit the ground running! They are in the fleet, immediately expected to be able to contribute and perform at a high level when lives and property are at risk. Hence the extreme, intensive nature of Coast Guard Boot Camp.

When an Army recruit leaves boot camp, they are sent to their next level of training where they undergo more specialized training in their job before being put into the field. Hence, initially they are not "field ready"...but still in the process of becoming a soldier.

Comparing the two is apples and oranges. Two different missions, generally speaking. The Coast Guard demands more of it's recruits from the very start. It takes the Army a little longer to prepare their's.

Always respect your fellow service members. All branches, all the time. We're all on the same side.
