Things seem to be in motion. I called the recruiter again today. She told me the for active duty they do a sort of "career day" type thing where i would go in with a group of other people. Its on Sept. 14th so I still have a couple weeks. Does anyone know what this will be like? I'm happy to finally get an appointment to go to the office.
Hope all is well for everyone! |

Never heard of doing a career day. I'd be curious to hear what it's about. |

One of the active duty recruiters will chime in I'm sure, but a career day is meant to simply give you an overview of the Coast Guard, it's missions, etc. This event gives the recruiter a chance to take applications and do an initial qualification of those who respond. Be prepared to fill out some forms and have a brief meeting with the recruiter. First impressions are lasting impressions, so put your best foot forward. If you have not done so, prepare a resume. You may or may not need it at this event, but it doesn't hurt to be "always ready". From the interested people who attend, the best of the best will have the opportunity to take the next step. Good Luck! |

A career day is where a handful of applicants all come in to the recruiting office at the same time. The recruiter will have you fill out some paperwork. At the career days that I've run, I have them fill out an application and medical questionaire. I will usually show them the basic training video while I look over the applications. Once I'm done, I will talk to the applicants one at a time to let them know if they are qualified or disqualified from moving on in the process. At some career days, you will fill out the MEPCOM 680, which is the form you need to take your ASVAB. Career days are good for saving time when there are a lot of interested applicants. |
