I am in no way an expert and I am sure someone else can answer with a better knowledge. In my my past couple of months of going through the process, I found it very important and beneficially to keep in touch with my recruiter. I asked questions about the process, about life as a Coastie, how to prepare for MEPS etc etc. I would however keep it to once a week, or once every other week. You want him/her to know you're dedicated to joining and still interested. On the flip side you really don't want to annoy him by calling him twice a week just to say hello. Have something to call about and let him/her know your status on the ASVAB studying. That gives him a timeline and an ETA for your enlistment process. Again, I am not part of the Coast guard, just another hopeful, so take that with a grain of salt. |

Thull, dead on... Viper, yes, keep in touch. If you don't someone else will slide in there because the recruiter will think you have just given up. A phone call with a brief message, an email just to let him know your status... you can even say no response is necessary if you don't have the time, I'm just checking in with you. This way if/when you reach a point you did need to speak to your recruiter another email that says can you please give me a call, he'll know something is up. It is always a good idea to stay in touch, it won't hurt, only help. |
