Hello
I have decided to join the uscg and had a few question on the regruiting stage.Im 18 years old and will be graduating with my high school diploma and associates degree in late may of 2011. I have a clean record and received a high score on my practice ASVAB.Once i have completed my stay at the coast Guard i am hoping to start a career in law enforcement and would like to receive MP experience while in the GC but am currently not a citizen but a legal resident with a green card and have no prior firearm or law enforcement experience.
So my Questions are, What do i need to do to get recruited, what are some basic facts i should know before talking to a recruiter and in which part of the coast guard will i receive the most LE experience.

As a non-citizen, you need to know that the only jobs you will be allowed to do in the Coast Guard are:
Boatswain's Mate
Damage Controlman
Electrician's Mate
Machinery Technician
Food Service Specialist
Health Services Technician
Marine Science Technician
Storekeeper
Yeoman
In order to re-enlist beyond your initial 4 years of active duty, you would need to become a citizen. Also, you cannot apply to Officer Candidate School unless you become a citizen.
You cannot hold a secret clearance unless you are a citizen.
What country are you a citizen of?

The Marine Corps and the Army both have MP's. The Navy has MA's (Master at Arms).

I am also pretty sure the air force has MP's too.
