Im on a cutter in maine and I just recently found out from a bm3 from the unit that is next to mine and he told me that if I wanted I could switch to reserves. I only have 4 days to do this If i find out this is true! the reason for me wanting to switch is to go to college!! at my unit it will just prelonged and i know this! I want to further my education as soon as possible. i talked to a few people at my unit.. But i signed up for 6 yrs! i know i can get some of my classes done.. But i know for a fact that I wont be able to complete college before the 6 yrs.. I would rather get a better education then go back active! If this is actually something i can do i would greatly appreciate on anybody letting me know!
    thank you

The program your BM3 spoke about has been suspended. Why cant you get your college degree done on Active? It is certainly possible in 4 years and a Masters could be done in 6. I completed a Bachelors and am currently working on my Masters and have used nothing but Tuition Assistance. There are many colleges that are very military friendly and can help in your search. Get with your ESO ASAP and He/She will get the ball rolling. I attend TUI university (online). Good credits for military service and a sliding scale that gives you 28 credits a year for the 4500.00 TA.

Take the word cant out of your vocabulary, stick with words like can and will to get things done. You can do anything you set your mind to.

In fairness, there are a number of degrees that can't be completed online, due to lab and practical requirements, internships, field work, etc. So, while it's certainly possible to get "a" degree online, it's not possible to get "any" degree, just as it's not possible to get every degree from every university.

This is very true wep and I agree, however to say you cant get a degree in 4 to 6 years goes against what I see and experience. It is absolutely possible!

Just about everyone knows what I have said... My ex earned 2 Associates, a Bachelors and his Masters all while serving on Active Duty. Chukles is right, so is Wep, there are some degrees that cannot be attained, but if you want something that can be gained on line, it is completely accessible to you... all you have to do is reach out to your ESO and get on with it!!

    Best of luck!!!
