I'm soooooooooo nervous Samantha! Do you have the general orders memorized yet? How are your push ups? I suck at them! I can only do 10 without collapsing but I've been practicing a lot lol. I have no upper body strength!

I'm getting the General orders. When I have free time I write them. Push ups are not so good... BUT! I've learned a trick to help out with them. Start out with one push up then roll over and do one sit up. Then do two push ups and two sit ups. Then three and three.. etc. It really has been helping me.

I believe we will be India 184. I found the group on Facebook for those who'd like to join or have family that would like to join. For all of the other companies they seem to keep updated and family/friends have a chance to support each other and share stories while we are gone. The second link is a general family and friends page.

Keep in mind that we have boot camp forums by name now on USCG.org! It is under the family section.
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

So, coming down to it here. What is everybody doing to prep? What kind of workouts and stuff. I know a couple of you guys are fitness gurus, so any tips? Particularly with running?

I just realized today that we have less than 2 weeks left. Kinda really sinking in now. Been talking about it for so long, but now its actually coming up. Been trying to workout at least 5-6 days/ week. Got the pushups, situps should be good, swim is no prob, just working on the run now. Got the required knowledge, at least as much as I can know until I find out our command chain. Good luck to everybody and see you in a couple weeks. Have a safe and fun Thanksgiving.

Hey all, days left, here we go super excited. I am a coach for P90X and have been for over a year and a half now. On top of that I am running a mile every morning and swimming at least 1000 yards a week (been swimming since I was 1). If anybody is looking for any tips, its simple coming from a trainer. Pushups and pullups are probably the best exercises you can do for your chest and back. I know we dont do pullups in boot but working the two muscle groups together gives you much better and faster results to build good solid upper body strength. For my abs been doing crunches, bicycles, leg lifts, and situps. Running I would say work your way up start with a mile or half a mile and then do that and then we you are ready do the mile and half. Make sure you do the mile and a half before we leave that way you know what to expect for the Physical fitness test. For the past weeks I have been running a mile two days a week Mon and Wed. and then on Fri timing myself on the mile and a half. I look forward to meeting you all and training with you guys. If you have any other questions about training just message me. Military PT seems to stay with the same pushups, situps, crunches, and leg lifts I have also started sounding off my reps with leg lifts and everything just getting used to it. Dont train to hard dont want to hurt yourself. I hope everyone has a safe and lovely Thanksgiving, and I will see you all in 7 days!!!

I tried to post sooner Ozzy sry bro. Are you making sure to stretch the calves and the shins before you run? do toe taps to stretch the shins and then without moving your heel tap your foot for left to right do this about 5-7 times and that will stretch the shins and you wont hurt

Haha!  a casual 3 mile run to start...sounds like what I did.  Drink more milk to help with shin splints.  I got those as well at first but after drinking more milk and better stretching they went away.

I just followed the Helmsman and went down the list. I went shopping with my mom and practically died when she almost started to cross off the items in my book with pen. The only wear and tear I want on it is on the spine from opening and closing it so much!

For long underwear, I bought them just in case. Living in a desert, you're not used to such cold weather in the winter. (Looking at weather.com and biting my nails!) Though I've read that you will be moving around a lot whenever you're outside and that soon enough your body heat will be sufficient.

For me, a person with extremely curly and thick hair, I'm going to need a lot of gel. Is it possible to carry multiple 3oz bottles of gel in the same carry-on? Do they sell gel at the exchange?

Also, do they supply you with sweats on the first night or do you sleep in your clothes?

See you all soon!

Im bringing the normal stuff like v-necks and white underwear but as for "regular" clothes i'm thinking of winging one pair from Sunday night to Tuesday when we arrive, my bag is duffel bag is pretty small and the wife can just bring me clothes after we graduate. The weather in Southern Ca. and NJ is a little different.
