That's really great. Congrats on your wedding! I was hoping, more like dreaming that we could be engaged before he left to boot camp (we've been together for 6 years lol).. but I know I have to wait for things to happen at the right time. It is tough on us when our loved ones leave, but it's something to be very proud of so it's a bittersweet sadness hehe.. |

I received a phone call last night from my son informing him that he has been reverted for a week. He was in his 7th week of training and had already received his orders and station location. My question is will they relocate him due to this reverting? He is having to look for housing since their is none at his station location. I have been searching for apartments for him since he will only have five days after graduating before he is suppose to report. I know that due to this set back he will not be able to contact me with this information until the weekend of his 7th week with his new company. Please help answer this question if you can. Thank you. |

Hi, More likely than not his orders will stay the same. There are cases where there couldbe a switch in things, but that isn't something you'll know till you know. So don't worry about that. As for house hunting... his 5 days are leave. He can go to his new station's area right after boot camp or he can go home. Once he reports in they will allow him 10 days for house hunting. That is not charged leave time. They don't expect you to show up and know precisely where you are going to be living prior to reporting in for your first day of work. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT get him anything prior to his arrival there thinking you are doing him a favor... You won't be. There might be government leased housing, there might be barracks he can stay in temporarily, there might be options to bunk with a shipmate in an apartment. I have moved many times and the internet is an excellent idea for looking and getting a feel but pictures do not always tell the whoel picture. I have relayed this story many times... We were moving from NJ to Texas. I looked on line for places to get an idea what might be available. We found the perfect house!! Oh it was everything I wanted and then some. The price was great, the location was good, the yard was beautiful, they allowed pets (I have cats & dogs), plenty of space... Oh heaven!!!! We got there... neighborhood was great, house was pretty from teh outside, yard was actually as huge as it looked in pictures... I start doing a little tap dance in the driveway! Then the front door opens... OH MY GOD!!!! The previous tenants had pets... I know because apparently the carpet was their wee-wee pad! There were stains that were so gently altered out of photos and that smell, in the Texas heat... that can't be replicated by any words I mght type here! It was in every room, the smell was hideous! Had I signed a lease in NJ because it LOOKED perfect, I would have been totally and completely on the hook for the lease!!!! Line up a few places for him to look at but go absolutely no further than that! Like I said, they will give him time to find housing. His orders SHOULD remain the same. They might change but I doubt it. |
