I joined a gym last week in anticipation that I'm horribly out of shape. Low and behold, I am. lol I almost failed the flexibility tests at MEPS since I was so damn sore from the gym. I'm Mike btw.

When I say the flexibility part of the physical I mean when everyone lined up, checked your joint rotations, made you do the duck walk and all that. I haven't been given a copy of the helmsman to study from yet but I found a pdf of it online. Hopefully there's no difference in versions.

Hey guys its me... again haha. Anyways i was just reading through a few of the current journals on the cape may website and came across one company that seemed to be doing just terrible, they were in their second week and people were still having trouble with basic orders (sit down, be on time, ect.). Well i really hope we do not have a unit like that i want you guys to know that im going to do my best to help who i can and i hope you guys can do the same for me cause im sure im going to need help also. Our first four weeks are going to be hell (from what i heard) after that you kinda get used to the abuse. Anyways im posting on here "11 GENERAL ORDERS" and the "PHONETIC ALPHABET"  to help anyone who has not been able to get a copy of the "helmsmen" yet.

Thanks guys!

Here you go...

11 GENERAL ORDERS

1.      To take charge of this post and all government property in view.

2.      To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.

3.      To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.

4.      To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guard house than my own.

5.      To quit my post only when properly relieved.

6.      To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, field officer of the day, officer of the day, and officers and petty officers of the watch.

7.      To talk to no one except in the line of duty.

8.      To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.

9.      To call the petty officer of the watch in any case not covered by instructions.

10.  To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.

11.  To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.

"Shipper packet"?

I have no idea what that is but now that I have a date I'm just going to sit back and go with the flow.

Thanks bikesnotscott!

I started in November so it's really not been that long a process. It probably just feels that way because you're sick of reading my posts. Trust me, I wish I was in Cape May already too!

Haha, these last weeks have been painfully long! I'm worried that the day before I ship is going to be like Groundhog Day.

Well gentlemen, it appears I won't be going with you on the 8th. Bit of a miscommunication with the recruiter, he called today and told me the date has been set for March 22. Best of luck to you all though, I'm sure I'll see you around at some point. =]
