I know many have already asked what should we take to boot camp and someone actually posted like a well detailed list of what to bring but i just can't find the topic. Does anyone have the link for it? It would be extremely helpful since im leaving the 8th. Also, what kind of bag should I pack all my stuff in?

The best guide to follow is the Helmsman, you should have received a copy from your recruiter. If not, you can google it & download a PDF of the whole book. That has everything except socks, yes bring socks! LOL

As for a bag make it something not outrageous but identifiable. A simple rolling, carry on suit case or a duffel will be fine. But make sure it has some sort of marking, tape, name, something that you will be able to spot and grab when the CC's pitch all your stuff off the bus and you have to grab & go!

From pictures, the socks all seem to be crew length. You really only need to bring a couple pairs of socks, they will provide you with all that you need. If you need more, you can always get that at the exchange.

Dave, I just got back from boot camp. The one thing I wish I had more of was under wear and some more white and BLACK socks (crew length). The black socks they give you fit great. . . Until you wash them. Then they shrink to a ridiculous size and it becomes very difficult to put them on with any sort of speed and they become very uncomfortable to wear! So bring some comfortable black socks lol. Also, if you shave, even a little. . . BRING A GOOD RAZOR AND PLENTY OF REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGES! I've never gotten such horrible razor burn in my life until boot camp! You can bring your own shampoo if you wish, toiletries in general wont get confiscated, just be reasonable.

When you get to go to the exchange in week 2 or 3 realize that it's very expensive. Or at least, I thought it was. So make sure you bring a ton of cash (They accept major cards) for all the things you think you might need. I wish I had bought a second pair of sweats. I bought extra PF gear which are short sleeve shirts and shorts for working out in, and also sleeping in. I ended up buying an extra pack of razor cartridges while I was in the exchange - I think above all else that was the best purchase I made, but of course. I have to shave often.

As long as you bought Old Spice, remembering we are a sea going service so Old Spice is the only way to go! HAHAHAHAHA

Yes, your own deodorant is just fine.
