My ship date for basic is February 22nd.  My parents are trying to figure out what days to take off from work and I don't want to give them the wrong dates.  8 weeks to the day would be April 19th but I know graduations are typically on Fridays.  I am assuming that it is going to be the following Friday but I just wanted to get some input from someone on here.  Thanks!

April 15 unless you are reverted for any number of reasons.

April 15th is dead on right. Tell your parents not to book tickets too quickly. Not that I am wishing you any bad luck at all but it happens. I waited until between weeks 5 & 6 to book my tickets. Even then I was a nervous nelly. One slip up and I could be paying a fortune in change fees. Sometimes those change fees add up to more than the ticket originally cost! I'm sure you will make it in the 8 weeks but for the sake of $$$$$$$ tell your parents to be cautious. They can do hotel reservations now, those can be changed with a simple phone call and they don't penalize you for those changes.

Or they could fly on Southwest. I don't think they charge change fees. They would have to fly into Philadeplhia and drive though. I think its about an hour and 45 minutes. I guess it all depends on where they would be coming in from since Southwest has such few servicing airports.

Southwest is the BEST BEST BEST! You're right they don't charge change fees, only if the price of the ticket is different do you pay the upcharge. The only thing I don't like about Southwest is the open seating. Oh my God, it's a plane, we are all going to the same place, sit down, shut up, let's go! You give people an entire plane to pick from it's like letting a kid loose in Toys R Us with an unlimited balance credit card. People turn into blithering idiots that can't find their way down a straight aisle!!!!

I flew with them recently... middle seat in the bulkhead row was open. I like bulkhead if I can get it, there is extra leg room. I sat down and these two women said they were traveling together. I said, oh, do one of you want the center seat? I would have taken aisle or window, didn't care. No, they were quite comfortable but they wouldn't be able to talk with me sitting in between them. HA! I put my bag in the overhead, plugged in my headphones and closed my eyes. Too bad ladies... you didn't pay for 3 seats, you don't get 3 seats! Sheesh! That's my only complaint! Otherwise I like fling Southwest whenever I can. I have also wised up and pay the additional $10 or $15 to get an early boarding pass. Then I sit where I want and no one bothers me because I'm there first. LOL

Hey Old Guard and Future thanks for the responses! I was just visiting my family this past week and I added a few sites to their favorites so that they know what to look at while I'm gone.

They are from Rochester, NY which is only about 6 hours away so we don't have to worry about flights.

What about for April 26th? My nephew was supposed to leave the 12th but some paperwork got messed up so now he's leaving the 26th. I've been on the website, but couldn't find the dates, would anyone happen to know?
