Hi Folks,
Currently working on the development of a Ultra Deep Water Floating Production Unit (FPU - 7000 Feet water depth).
Air traffic access will be via 2 Aluminum Helidecks, and these will be equipped with all the common fire fighting tools as a primary fire fighting system, AND will also be fitted with a DIFF (Deck Integrated Fire Fighting Sytem) system - a secondary fire fighting system.
The FPU will be both ABS and USCG classed.
The vendor will supply the helidecks with an ABS certified DIFF system.
The DIFF is a non- USCG requirement, and hence no testing/certification intentions included in teh current RFQ package.
Will the DIFF system be considered a FFE system by the USCG and will it require testing/certification to be accepted by USCG?
USCG testing/certification cannot be embedded in the project's delivery schedule.
Would like to hear your opinion on this matter. We have currently advised bidders to quote the DIFF as a seperate item, as we may decide to delete this from the spec to avoid regulatory issues later on.
Thanks,
Roel Soeleman
